If you have a coaches/instructors policy then the named coach(es) listed on the policy are covered. This will provide cover for an instructor or coach to train their clients. This will provide cover for them to train any number of teams and is not linked to one team.
If you have Public Liability insurance under a coaches policy then this will provide cover if the coach was to be sued for causing injury to a third party, including a participant/student, or damage to third party property. It would provide cover for court fees, solicitor fees and compensation.
For example, if you are coaching a class where an accident occurs through your negligence causing a participant to be injured and then that participant were to sue you, this would be covered under Public Liability, subject to the usual terms and exclusions of our policy.
If an accident has occurred causing injury or damage to a third-party, and you were not negligent in causing this to happen, then this would not be covered as the injured party would have no cause to sue you for causing the accident or damage.
Additional covers are also available for Personal Accident and Equipment cover for the named coach on the policy.
