We offer three types of policies, depending on whether you’re coaching, taking part, or running a team.
1. Coaches & Instructors
Coaches Policy – this is designed to cover coaches/instructors who teach individuals, small groups or teams.
Will also provide cover for the named coach/instructors to take part in the named sport as a participant.
This policy is designed for anyone who is qualified to coach or instruct athletes. It covers you to train any number of teams and isn’t tied to one specific group.
Cover options:
- Public Liability protection if you’re sued for causing injury to someone else (including a participant) or damaging third party property
- Cover for legal costs such as solicitor fees, court fees and compensation
- Personal Accident, Loss of Earnings, Employer’s Liability and Sports Equipment cover available for the coaches named on the policy.
This policy also provides cover for the named coach/instructors to take part in the selected sports as a participant.
We also offer a Personal Trainer policy, which provides the same options for cover as our standard coaching policies.
2. Players & Participants
This policy is for individual athletes who want cover whilst training or taking part in sport. It isn’t linked to a specific team, and you can train anywhere in the UK, or worldwide if selected.
Multiple sports/activities can be listed, and you may train with multiple teams at any venue.
There is no cover provided for any coaching/instruction of any kind.
Cover options:
- Public Liability protection if you’re sued for injuring someone else or damaging their property
- Cover for legal costs such as solicitor fees, court fees and compensation
- Personal Accident, Loss of Earnings and Sports Equipment cover for the named participant.
3. Teams
This policy is ideal for groups such as cheerleading, football and netball teams or other organised squads. It covers all members of the named team and their coach while training or competing together.
Cover options:
- Cover for all team members and the team’s coach (the coach is insured only to coach the team named on the policy)
- Public Liability protection if a team member or coach is sued for injuring a third party or damaging third party property
- Cover for legal costs such as solicitor fees, court fees and compensation
- Personal Accident, Loss of Earnings, Employer’s Liability and Sports Equipment cover for all named team members and the team’s coach.
If you run a club with multiple teams
You can insure all teams belonging to the same club under one Teams policy. You just need to ensure you select the correct number of teams based on your club, and every member of those teams is covered.
Here are some examples of having multiple teams in a club:
- Teams based on ages: Under 10s, Under 16s and Under 21s would count as three separate teams if they train or compete separately.
- Teams based on ability: If the club is split by ability, for example a beginners team, intermediate team and expert team, this would be classed as having 3 teams within the club as these would be 3 groups that train and compete separately.
- If all members of the club always train and compete together, they would be classed as one team.
Choosing the Right Policy: The type of policy you need depends on what you want to insure.
