We offer free multi-sport cover with our coaches/instructors, personal trainer and players/participants policies. With our multi-sport cover, you're covered for any sports that you're qualified to teach which also fall into the same risk category and below. Each sport we cover has a risk category from A to E.
You can find out which sports fall into which risk category by checking the Insurance Scope Document.
Here are a few examples:
- If you have a player's/participant's policy for playing basketball, you would be automatically covered to participate in any of the sports listed in categories A and B on the insurance scope, as basketball is a category B sport.
- If you are a Personal Trainer you would normally have a category A policy meaning you are covered to coach any other category A sport that you are qualified to teach. So if you gain a new qualification for a category A sport, you are covered to start coaching as soon as you are qualified without needing to update your policy.
- As standard you normally need to have a qualification that is recognised by a UK governing body, OR have at least 3 years’ experience in coaching the sport you wish to teach which must be evidenced, this can be with payslips, tax returns etc.
If you are coaching any of the following sports, specific qualification or experience conditions apply:
- Gymnastics and Trampolining
- Football/Soccer
- Boxing
- Pole Fitness/Pole Dancing
- Aerial Activities
- Mountaineering
- Climbing
- Paragliding/Hang Gliding
- Shooting
- Off-Piste
- Sailing
- Water Depths (Scuba Diving)

Need cover for a sport in a higher risk category? If you ever need cover for a sport in a higher category, for example if you are covered up to category B but want cover for a category D sport, you would need to update your policy to include cover for that sport. Please be aware that we cannot offer the multi-sport cover for a Teams' policy as this type of policy will only cover the insured team to train and compete in the named sport.
